Gulf of Poets – Lerici & Portovenere (Day Plan)
The Gulf of Poets is a perfect “sea day” to alternate with the Cinque Terre: scenic villages, castles, coastal walks and iconic views across the bay. This page gives general ideas to plan in autonomy, with a base in Sarzana (Liguria, Italy) at our agriturismo / Italian farm stay.
Note: La Bianca Fattoria does not organise tours, guided hikes or guided visits. Please verify access rules, opening times and any changes on the official sources listed at the bottom of the page.
Lerici: village atmosphere and sea views
Lerici is one of the Gulf’s most recognisable stops: a waterfront walk, photogenic corners and a classic Ligurian seaside mood.
- Promenade time: enjoy the bay views at a relaxed pace.
- Historic corners: small lanes and viewpoints that work in any season.
- Calendar check: if you want to match your day with events, rely on official updates.
Portovenere: the iconic waterfront + San Pietro
Portovenere is one of Liguria’s most iconic sea-facing villages: dramatic coastline, distinctive architecture and strong historical identity.
- Viewpoints: short walks reveal classic “postcard” perspectives.
- San Pietro area: please check any visiting rules or access notes on official channels when relevant.
Islands & nature: Palmaria, Tino, Tinetto
The islands opposite Portovenere create one of the Gulf’s most distinctive landscapes. If you include nature and paths, always check route conditions and any seasonal instructions before leaving.
- Nature walks: choose routes based on time, elevation and weather.
- Protected areas: follow official guidance to respect the environment.
La Spezia: useful city stop
La Spezia can round out the day with urban waterfront areas and services. It’s a practical choice when you want to combine village atmosphere with a coastal city (still in independent planning).
